I love to celebrate nature, wildlife and life through both writing and art. From my messy studio, I paint with soft pastels , charcoal and also with wool. I find these mediums oddly similar in terms of the tactile nature of working with them, and (for pastels and wool) the vibrant colours and the softness.
WOOL FELT: I mostly use (non-mulesed) merino wool and the wet-felting method, though I also often embellish my wet-felted pieces with needle felting, hand embroidery or free-motion sewing.
PASTELS: I generally use a combination of Unison soft pastels, Pan Pastels, Rembrandt pastels and pastel pencils (Stabilo Cabothello most often). I also enjoy working with charcoal.
My go-to paper is Clairefrontaine’s Pastelmat, though I occasionally use other papers such as Canson’s Mi-Teintes Velvet and Strathmore’s 300 Bristol paper, even some recycled paper I make by hand.
POETRY: Since I’m also a writer, I usually find that the urge to write poetry or short prose for each artwork is too strong to deny, so almost all my pieces have words to accompany them (see The Trees of Lady Hill below as a short example). Whoever buys the artwork is also gifted with the poem. (If you’ve bought my work at a gallery which didn’t display or offer the accompanying writing, do get in touch and I’d be happy to send you the words – if the piece had them!).
If you’re interested in buying any of the pieces below, have any questions about them, or would like to ask about a commission, I’d love to hear from you by email at: a.g.marks18 at gmail.com
[NOTE: Colours might not be exactly as shown on screen. Sizes are rough on the felts as I mostly present them as uneven – though they can be framed not to show the uneven edge if you prefer. Prices don’t include P&P]

Felt Items
You can make some wonderful things out of felt, and these are just some of the items I currently have available. The taller vases are made so that when you cut the top off a typical 1 litre plastic drink bottle the remainder fits inside and you can use it for flowers. Alternatively, they make (whole) drink bottles look much prettier in a bedroom!
The small pots are great for jewellry or other bits, or again, with a small jar inside, they can hold flowers. Or they are simply pretty in their own right.
